Since 2000, James has worked in branding and advertising as an Art Director, Designer, and Writer. A selection of his projects have been featured in Communication Arts, Print, Lürzer’s Archive, the national ADDYs, and the San Diego Creative Show.
James has been an active part of the San Diego creative community through volunteer work and as a past member of the AIGA San Diego board of directors. A love of design history and a passion for education led to his eventual role as an adjunct professor in San Diego City College’s highly regarded design program. Seeing so many students flourish and succeed ranks among his most rewarding professional experiences.
When he steps away from his desk, James enjoys surfing, vintage drums, Turkish-made cymbals, Blue Note records, good tea, craft beer, guitars, and Saturday pancakes with his wife and daughter.
